"1.  Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me:  It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

"2.  Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. ...

"7.  For I would that all men were even as I myself.  But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

"8.  I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

"9.  But if they cannot contain, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn."

                                1 Corinthians 7:1-2, 7-9

Bible Scriptures for Mormons

-Some of the Bible's "plain and precious teachings:"

1. There is only one God:

(Mormonism teaches that there are many Gods.  See Pearl of Great Price, Abraham, chapter 4)

"Is there a God beside me?  yea, there is no God; I know not any."  Isaiah 44:8

"I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me."  Isaiah 45:5

"Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God"         Isaiah 44:6

2. There are no temple secrets:

(Mormonism swears its elite to secrecy about teachings received in its temples.)

"The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.  Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing."    John 18:19-20

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

"For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

"But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."            John 3:19-21

"And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.

"For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.

"But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light: for whatsoever doeth make manifest is light."     Ephesians 5:11-13

3.  True Christians Avoid Presumptuous Oaths

(The Mormon elite must make oaths in the temples about things that they were not informed about previously.)

"Swear not at all; ... But let your communication be, Yea, yea;  Nay, nay:  for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."    Matthew 6:33-36

"But above all things, my brethren, swear not, ... but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation."      James 5:12

4. True Christians Avoid Genealogies:

(Mormonism baptizes for the dead. See Doctrine and Covenants, sections 124:29-30; 127:5010)

"Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith:  so do."  1 Timothy 1:4

"But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain."  Titus 3:9

5.  True Christians are Wary of Other Gospels

(Mormonism distrusts the Bible in its present form.  See Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 13:26-30)

"But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed."  Galatians 1:9

"But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him."  ...

"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.  And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."  2 Corinthians 11:3-4, 13-15

6.  True Christians Put Their Trust Only In Jesus for Their Salvation.

(Mormonism teaches trust in Joseph Smith as the key for "exaltation" in the hereafter.)

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."       Acts 4:12

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:  That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."      Philippians 2:9-11

7.  Concerning a Paid Clergy

(Mormonism denounces all paid clergy as guilty of the sin of "priestcraft." and corrupt. See Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 16:10)

Do ye not know that they which minister about holy things live of the things of the temple?  and they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar?  Even so hath the Lord ordained that they which preach the gospel should live of the gospel.     1 Corinthians 9:13-14

Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.  For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn.  And, The laborer is worthy of his reward.     1 Timothy 5:17-18

8.  Hell is Forever.

(Mormonism teaches that people can get out of hell by accepting their gospel after death.)

"If thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched."      Mark 9:43-44

"Then shall he say unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels;  ...  And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.”       Matthew 25:41, 46

"Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation."        John 5:28-29

9.  Jesus Christ has revealed to us God the Father and His plan for man.

(Mormonism teaches that Joseph Smith's revelations and the Mormon church have the only reliable and accurate information about God.  See Doctrine & Covenants, Section 27:5)

"No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.       John 1:18

"God, who hath saved us and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,

"But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel."        2 Timothy 1:8-10

10.  True Christians Walk in the Light.

(Mormonism equivocates when presenting its beliefs.)

"God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth;

But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."      1 John 5-7

"And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."          John 3:19

11.  True Prophets Teach Only What is in the Bible

(Mormonism claims to honor the Bible, but is quick to point out its "mistakes".)

Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.     1 John 4:1

To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.       Isaiah 8:20

12.  True Christians Confront Sin.

(Mormonism tends to cover up its corporate sins to preserve its image before the world.  See Mountain Meadow Massacre, the Hoffman forgeries)

"Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.  For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.  But all things that are reproved are made manifest by the light:  for whatsoever doeth make manifest is light."    Ephesians 5:11-13

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."     1 John 1:8-9

13.  God's Simple Plan of Salvation

(Mormonism has a very complicated plan of salvation and scorns the Bible way as insufficient.)

a)  Christ came that we might escape Satan's plan and fulfill God's plan for our lives.

"The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy:  I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."       John 10:10

b)  Due to the fall of Adam, we are born with a sinful nature.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."       Romans 3:23

c)  In our natural state, we are doomed for hell.  Faith in Jesus Christ is our ticket to heaven.

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."      Romans 6:23

d)  We must recognize our sinful state and repent before, trusting that the substitution of Christ's death on the cross is totally sufficient to obtain our forgiveness from God and entrance into heaven.

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."   1 John 1:9

e)  Jesus Christ beacons us to come to him, asking him to come into our heart and lives from this moment on.

"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."     Revelation 3:20

f)  As a testimony before God and the world that we have accepted the true Gospel, we should then be water-baptized in a Bible-believing church and sit under its teachings in order to learn how to live out the rest of our life as a Christian.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:  and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world."    Matthew 28:19-20

14. God's Love for Mankind and Provision for His Salvation through Jesus Christ.

(Mormonism teaches that faith in Jesus Christ is not sufficient for salvation.)

"As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; that that the world through him might be saved."    John 3:14-17

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."     2 Peter 3:9

15.  The Bible warns of taking New Testament teachings lightly.

(Mormonism claims it has restored the New Testament teachings which were taken out of the New Testament by the "great and abominable church" during the Middle Ages.  See Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 13:24-29 )

-St. Paul wrote:

"According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.  But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."       1 Corinthians 3:10-11

-St. Peter wrote:

"And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; And also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they which are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction."      2 Peter 3:15-16

-Jesus said:

"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."          Matthew 24:35

16,  The Importance of the Cross

(For the true Christian, the cross symbolizes where God reconciled man to Himself through Christ.)

(For Mormonism, the cross is to be despised and not displayed.)

"For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel; not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

"For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."    1 Corinthians 1:18-19

"But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world."      Galatians 6:14

17.  Jesus Christ was and is the Last High Priest

(Mormonism claims it has restored both the Levitical and the Melchisedec priesthood.)

"If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?  For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.  For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Judah; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

And it is yet far more evident:  for that after the similitude of Melchisedic there ariseth another priest, Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life."

"For there is verily a disannulling of the commandment going before for the weakness and unprofitableness thereof.  For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God."        Hebrews 7:11-16, 18-19

"Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum; We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens; A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man."   Hebrews 8:1-2

18.  God is not a man

(Mormonism says that God is a glorified, exalted, resurrected man.)

"God is not a man, that he should lie, neither the son of man, that he should repent:  hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"      Numbers 23:19

"I am God, and not man; the Holy One in the midst of thee."     Hosea 11:9

19.  The Holy Ghost, not God the Father, caused the miracle of the Virgin Birth of Christ.

(Mormonism teaches that God the Father--a glorified man--literally visited the virgin Mary and sired Jesus Christ.)

"Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:  When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost."     Matthew 1:18

"While he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost."     Matthew 1:20

20.  Jesus celebrated the superiority of monogamy for this life and the state of celibacy in the world to come.

(Mormonism maintains that polygamy is God's ideal state for man in this life and will be practiced in the celestial glory.  D&C Section 132)

"From the beginning of the creation God made them male and female.  For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife;  And they twain shall be one flesh:  so then they are no more twain, but one flesh."        Mark 10:6-8

"Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.  For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven."    Matthew 22:29-30

"And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage:  But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage:  Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection."     Luke 20:34-36

21.  Man did not "pre-exist."

(Mormonism teaches that people were spirit-beings before they entered into earthly bodies. Doctrine and Covenants 49:17; 93:29; 138:56)

"And so it was written, The first man, Adam, was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.  Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual."          1 Corinthians 15:45-46

"The burden of the word of the Lord for Israel, saith the Lord, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him."        Zechariah 12:1

22,  Jesus has always been part of the Godhead.

(Mormonism teaches that Jesus was born in the pre-existence as one of God the Father's spirit children, actually given birth to by a celestial mother.  Besides being our literal spirit-brother, he is also the spirit-brother of Lucifer and the demons.)

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.    ...

"And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us."       John 1:1-3, 14

"God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; ...

"But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever."      Hebrews 1:1-2, 8

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son."    John 3:16

23.  The true Christian trusts the Bible more than his own inner feelings in order to judge spiritual truth.

(Mormonism teaches to put more trust in the revelations of Joseph Smith than in the clear teachings of the Bible.)

"Thus saith the Lord;  Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.  For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.  For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:  who can know it?  I the Lord search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings."      Jeremiah 17:5-10

24.  For the true Christian, salvation is individual.

(Mormonism teaches that salvation is by families, and that their salvation is affected by what each family member does.)

The soul that sinneth, it shall die.  The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son:  the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.     Ezekiel 18:20

Jesus said...

Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth?  I tell you, Nay; but rather division:  For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three.  The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.     Luke 12:51-53

If any man come to me and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.  And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.        Luke 14:26-27

25.  Jesus Christ himself is the only way to the Father.

(Mormonism teaches that secret ceremonies taught in their temple are necessary to learn how to get past guard angels to the Father.)

"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:  no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."     John 14:6

"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son."    Colossians 1:13

"Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:  old things are past away; behold, all things are become new."     2 Corinthians 5:17

26.  Jesus Christ provided forgiveness of sin and full reconciliation with the Father for all who would believe on him and trust in his sacrifice on the cross.

(Mormonism teaches that there are sins that the Christ's blood does not forgive.  They also deny that the cross was where Christ's blood was shed for our sins--relegating that to his anguish in the garden of Gethsemane.)

"In  whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins;  Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers:  all things were created by him and for him:

"And he is the head of the body, the church:  who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence.

"For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell;

"And having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.

"And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight."

Colossians 1:14-22

27.  The Bible teaches that Christ provides the remedy for Adam's sin.

(Mormonism teaches that Christ provides the remedy for individual sins, and not for Adam's transgression.  See Articles of Faith #2)

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned."      Romans 5:12

"For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous."     Romans 5:19

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."          Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."      Romans 6:23

28.  True Christians trust only in Christ in order to be found righteous before God.

(Mormonism teaches that its obeying its temple covenants and ceremonies enable one to be found righteous and worthy before God.)

"As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence:  and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

"Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved.

"For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge.

"For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

"For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."        Romans 9:33-10:4

"But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."        Isaiah 64:6

29.  True Christians believe the Garden of Eden was in the Middle East.

(Mormons believe the Garden of Eden was in Jackson County, Missouri, See Doctrine and Covenants 78:15; 107:53; 115, 116, 117; also 1985 LDS hymnal, p. 49)

"And a river went out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted and became into four heads.

"The name of the first is Pison:  that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold;

"And the gold of that land is good:  there is bdellium and the onyx stone.

"And the name of the second river is Gihon:  the same is it that compasseth the whole land of Ethiopia.

"And the name of the third river is Hiddekel; that is it which goeth toward the east of Assyria.  And the fourth  river is Euphrates.      Genesis 2:10-14

30.  True Christians study the Bible and detect strange doctrines that deviate from its teachings.

(Mormonism distrusts the plain teachings of the Bible and substitutes them with doctrines which do not honor the true gospel of Jesus Christ, nor lead to eternal life.)

"Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.  But shun profane and vain babblings; for they will increase unto more ungodliness."                    2 Timothy 2:15

"That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive."              Ephesians 4:14

31.  Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father.

(Mormonism teaches that only through their occult temple ceremonies can one learn what is necessary to enter into the presence of the Father.)

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.       John 14:6

Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.        John 10:7

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.         John 10:1

32.  The gospel is hid from those who serve the god of this world.

(Mormonism teaches that their god, Elohim [the literal spiritual and physical father of Jesus Christ] is only the god of this world and is not the creator of all things.)

For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:  To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life.  And who is sufficient for these things?

For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God:  but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.  2 Corinthians 2:15-17

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.                  2 Corinthians 4:3-6

33.  The Bible teaches that the salvation comes about through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and an open confession of that faith.

(Mormonism teaches that salvation comes about with a confession that theirs is the Only True Church, being baptized by a member of their priesthood, then keeping all the ordinances taught in their occult temple ceremonies.)

If thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.  For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.         Romans 10:9-10

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:  old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.    2 Corinthians 5:17

34.  The scriptures invite us to come to the Lord and accept His reasoning so that our sins may be forgiven and His will be fulfilled in our lives.

(Mormonism teaches the inquirer to pray to the Mormon god to see if Mormonism is right or not.  The result is that they reject the Bible and accept their own emotional response above the revealed Word of God.)

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord:  though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.     Isaiah 1:18

Seek ye the Lord while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:   Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.  For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth:  it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.           Isaiah 55:6-11

These were more noble than those in Thessalonica in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.  Therefore many of them believed.      Acts 17:11-12

35.  The manuscript copyists of the Bible before the invention of the printing press were warned not to change the scriptural text under severe penalties from God.

(Mormon leaders have not hesitated to add to and take from their sacred texts:  They have changed the text of the Book of Mormon over 4,000 times, and many times in the Doctrine and Covenants--after the printed word was in use!)

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.     Revelation 22:18-19

36.  The only true God stands ready to accept all who have wondered away from Him to follow other gods.

(Mormonism arose due to a prophet who dreamed dreams and invited people to go after other gods.)

If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the Lord your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.  Ye shall walk after the Lord your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him.    Deuteronomy 13:1-4

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.  Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.  And ye shall seek me , and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.  And I will be found of you, saith the Lord:  and I will turn away your captivity.      Jeremiah 29:11-14

37.  True Christians love the Bible.

(Mormons constantly search for ways to undermine faith in the Bible.  They stress that they go by the "living prophet" [President Hinckley] and not "dead prophets".)

Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee.      Psalms 119:11

For ever, O Lord, thy word is settled in heaven.  Thy faithfulness is unto all generations.    Psalms 119:89-90

How sweet are thy words unto my taste!  yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth!  Through thy precepts I get understanding:  therefore I hate every false way.  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.     Psalms 119:103-105

It is time for thee, Lord, to work:  for they have made void thy law.  Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold.  Therefore I esteem thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.     Psalms 119:126

Thy testimonies are wonderful:  therefore doth my soul keep them.  The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.         Psalms 119:129-130

38.  True Christians put more trust in Jesus Christ and  the Bible than in any person or tradition.

(Mormons put more trust in their "living prophet" and Mormon tradition than in the words of Jesus Christ and the clear teachings of the Bible.)

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world:  he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.          John 8:12

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life:  and they are they which testify of me.  And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.

I receive not honour from men.  But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.  I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not:  if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.

How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?        John 5:39-44

39.   True Christians trust more in the Bible's clear teachings than their own feelings.

(Mormonism teaches that "personal revelation" is the most reliable means for determining what is true. --Book of Mormon, Moroni 10:4-5)

And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see might not see; and that they which see might be made blind.  And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?  And Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin:  but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.       John 10:39-41

Then came his disciples and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?  But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.  Let them alone:  they be blind leaders of the blind.  And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.     Matthew 15:12-14

Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.  And he said, Nay, father Abraham; but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.  And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.      Luke16:29-31

40.  True Christians believe that holiness is a part of escaping hell and gaining heaven.

(Mormonism teaches that even the worst of sinners will have a glorious afterlife, with only the "sons of perdition"--those who abandon Mormonism and speak out against it--going to hell in the afterlife.)

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?  Be not deceived:  neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

And such were some of you:  but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.   1 Corinthians 6:9-11

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.    Hebrews 12:14

41.  Christians want to spend eternity with God in heaven, not be gods themselves.

(Mormons teach that people are "gods in embryo," but that only faithful Temple Mormons may fully become Gods in eternity.)

And the serpent said unto the woman, ... ye shall be as gods, ...         Genesis 3:4-5

The word of the Lord came again unto me, saying, Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord God; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God.             Ezekiel 28:1-2

42.  True Christians depend on Jesus Christ and in the plain teachings of the Bible to guide them to heaven.  They reject contrary teachings, recognizing their source as satanic and designed to turn people into hell.

(Mormons believe that Christ's mission on earth would have failed except for the restoration of the Only True Church through Joseph Smith, founder of Mormonism.)

Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me:  for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.  Why do ye not understand my speech?  even because ye cannot hear my word.

Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.  He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.  When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.  And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.          John 8:42-45

But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.

But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them.  And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.      2 Timothy 3:13-15

43.  Bible-believing Christians believe that God is the source of all life through the power of His Word.

(Mormonism teaches that the spirit of every person and every demon is the result of a specific act of divine sexual intercourse which takes place on the planet "Kolob", thus making "Elohim" to be "the Father of Spirits".)

Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence; shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?   Hebrews 12:9

The spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.     Job 33:4

Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was:  and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.    Ecclesiastes 12:7

Thus saith God the Lord, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein.     Isaiah 42:5

And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?         Numbers 16:22

44.  True Christians will chose the cross of Christ over the opposition even of their own family members.

(Mormons tend to disown family members who chose the cross of Christ, calling them "apostates".)

And there went great multitudes with him: and he turned, and said unto them, If any man come unto me and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.  And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.      Luke 14:25-27

And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.       Acts 11:26

45.  The true Christian humbly receives the Bible as the inspired and trustworthy Word of God.

(Mormonism claims to defend the Bible while insisting that it is no longer reliable.  See Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 13:24-29)

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him:  neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.     1 Corinthians 2:14

But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  in whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.      2 Corinthians 4:3-4

46.  Christians believe every word of this passage.

(Mormons have a number of problems with it, as indicated below.)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  The same was in the beginning with God.  (Mormons believe that "God" came before Jesus.)

All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.  (Mormons believe that he did not create anything, just organized matter which had always been in existence.)  In him was life; and the life was the light of men.  And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehendeth it not.

There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.  The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.  He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.

That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.  He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.  He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:  which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  (Mormons are not sure about this "born-again" thing.)

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This is he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me, for he was before me.  (Joseph Smith claimed that his work was even more successful than Jesus Christ's--see History of the Church, v.6, p. 408-409)

And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace.  For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.

No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.  (In an initial visitation similar to that of Mohammed's, where he even despaired of life, Joseph Smith claimed to see both the Father and Jesus Christ.)       John 1:1-18

47.  The true disciple of Jesus Christ does not allow threats or peer pressure to turn him aside from openly following the real Jesus Christ.

( Mormonism brings great pressure to bear on its members who realize they must openly break with Mormonism in order to follow the Jesus Christ of the Bible.)

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God.     2 Timothy 1:7-8

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.     Matthew 10:28

Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.  2 Corinthians 6:17-18

And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, but he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.  But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.      Mark 10:29-31

48.  True Christians believe that the text of the Bible is accurate and contains the means of knowing the only true God and receiving eternal life.

(Mormons believe the Bible has been corrupted and it is impossible to know God without their supplementary scriptures.  See Book of Mormon, 1 Nephi 13:24-36)

I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them.     John 17:8

Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.    Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth forever.

For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass.  The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever.  And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.     1 Peter 23-25

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures    James 1:18

49.  True Christians trust in Jesus Christ for eternal life.

(Mormons put their trust in their "living prophet" and their priesthood for eternal life.)

-Jesus said:

"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand."       John 10:27-28

"The sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. ... and the sheep follow him:  for they  know his voice.  And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him:  for they know not the voice of strangers."     John 10:3-5

50.  True Christians look to the Bible as their guide to right living.

(Mormons honor their other sacred books more than they do the Bible.)

-The Source & Purpose of the Bible

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness."  2 Timothy 3:16

-The purpose of this website for Mormons

"Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins."         James 5:19-20

"Earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints."     Jude 3

51.  The True Gospel takes away shame and the need to hide one's true feelings.

(Mormons have been taught to tell the truth about everything but their religion.)

"Every man's word shall be his burden; for ye have perverted the words of the living God, of the Lord of hosts our God.  ...  And I will bring an everlasting reproach upon you, and a perpetual shame, which shall not be forgotten."      Jeremiah 23:36, 40

52.  The True Gospel teaches absolute trust only in God and the Bible, not in any living man.

(Mormonism teaches that one must put ones absolute trust only in the "living prophet" in order to follow God correctly.")

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked:  who can know it?"

                                    Jeremiah 17:5-9

53.  The True Gospel teaches that marriage in this life is not a requirement for exaltation in heaven.

(Mormonism teaches that only those who are sealed in a Mormon Temple marriage ceremony may be exalted [become gods] in heaven.  That would leave out St. Paul and all unmarried Mormons.)

54.  The Bible gospel teaches that no man besides Christ is worthy to stand before God the Father based on his own merits.

(Mormonism teaches that keeping the covenants of Mormonism makes one worthy.)

And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?

And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon.

And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon.

                                       Revelation 5:1-4

Prayer of Salvation:

Heavenly Father, I thank you for your Holy Word, the Bible, which reveals the plan of salvation which is so simple.  I repent for thinking that a church could save me when you only ask me to come to you with simple faith in your Son, Jesus Christ.  I believe that Christ lived a sinless life, took my sins upon him when he died on the cross, and is now at the right hand of the Father, praying for me.  Lord, I repent of all my sins.  I hear you knocking at the door of my heart.  I open that door and ask you to come into my life, forgive my sins and make me into a new person.

I renounce Mormonism and everything associated it.  I ask to be loosed from all the spirits of deception I have allowed into my life by questioning the plain teachings of the Bible and following the teachings of Mormonism.  Cleanse me by your blood which was shed for me on the cross.  I believe.  I receive you now as my Lord and Savior.  I will seek out a church which teaches the Bible as the road map for my life.  I will be water-baptized in that church as a testimony of my new-found faith in the Jesus Christ of the Bible and my renunciation of the false gods of Joseph Smith and Mormonism.  I surrender my life to You.  Do with me what you will.  I promise never leave you, with the help of the Holy Spirit.

I will accept whatever consequences this decision may require, for I desire to have praise of God more than the praise of man.  Thank you for saving me right now.

I pray these things in the Name of Jesus Christ.  Amen.

NOW, DO IT!  There is a Bible-believing church near you!  Visit it!  Talk to the pastor and explain to him to your situation.  My partners and I stand ready to provide counsel, if necessary.  And, of course, your name and information will be kept confidential.

Note to Christian Workers:
