"1.  Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me:  It is good for a man not to touch a woman.

"2.  Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. ...

"7.  For I would that all men were even as I myself.  But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that.

"8.  I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I.

"9.  But if they cannot contain, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn."

                                1 Corinthians 7:1-2, 7-9

Dr. Helland was born in Independence, Missouri, into a family which belonged to the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints (RLDS).  This organization changed its name to "Community of Christ" in 2001 in order to distance itself from the Utah Mormon church (LDS) which is famous for having once practiced polygamy.

He was raised believing the Book of Mormon to be the Word of God, but suddenly, at the age of 22,  he realized that his faith had been misplaced.  He ended up getting two theological degrees at Oral Roberts University, has served fifteen years on the mission field in Chile, South America and has made numerous ministry trips to the French-speaking countries in Africa.

He has been an ordained minister for over 40 years since leaving Mormonism and is posting information here which will be of special interest (1) to people who were taught to believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and (2) Bible-believing Christians who have friends or relatives in Mormonism and are seeking for insight into how to win them to an unabashed faith in the Bible alone as the Word of God.

He has a wife, three children, six grandchildren and has served as  missionary, evangelist, pastor, teacher and university professor for over 40 years in Christian Ministry.
