"1. Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. "2. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. ... "7. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. "8. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. "9. But if they cannot contain, let them marry; for it is better to marry than to burn." 1 Corinthians 7:1-2, 7-9

Trading Leg Room For Authenticity By Sharon Lindbloom (Mormonism Researched, May-June 2007)
When the Saints first settled in the Salt Lake Valley while they were building their tabernacles and temples, the doctrines preached by The Brethren included:
It’s remarkable that modern Latter-day Saints find fault with Christianity as they assert that it has moved away from the original teachings of Jesus and His apostles, yet they are entirely comfortable embracing a Mormonism that has moved well away from the original teachings of their own latter-day prophets and apostles.
This “destruction” of the “doctrines of the Restoration” has spawned hundreds of religions that have split from the church that Joseph Smith originally founded. Each new group believes The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has apostatized from the truth.
The LDS Church has never officially denounced the teachings of early LDS prophets and apostles. Instead, Church leadership has quietly stopped talking about many of these doctrines while allowing individuals – who have no authority for making official doctrinal decisions – to attempt damage control.
(Mormonism Researched may be contacted at www.mrm.org.) Profiling the Witnesses The Three Witnesses: Oliver Cowdery: A distant relative of Joseph Smith, he wrote much of the manuscript of the Book of Mormon as it was dictated to him by Joseph Smith from the other side of a curtain hung between them. He later married David Whitmer's sister, Elizabeth. David Whitmer: His family put up Joseph Smith while he was dictating the Book of Mormon from the golden plates. He later accused Joseph Smith of being a "fallen prophet." Martin Harris: The next-door neighbor of the Smith family. He mortgaged part of his farm to finance the first printing of the Book of Mormon which he then lost due to its poor sales. The Eight Witnesses: Joseph Smith, Sen.: Joseph Smith, Jr.'s father. Samuel H. Smith: One of Joseph Smith, Jr.'s brother Christian Whitmer: David Whitmer's brother Jacob Whitmer: David Whitmer's brother Peter Whitmer, Jun.: David Whitmer's brother John Whitmer: David Withmer's brother Hyrum Page: Married Catherine Whitmer, Peter Whitmer's daughter. He was using a "seerstone" for revelations when he first met Joseph Smith. So the "eye-witnesses" of the golden plates consisted of members of (1) the Smith family, (2) their next-door-neighbor, Martin Harris, (3) and the Whitmer family. That seems to be pretty slim justification to accept Joseph Smith's as a "Prophet, Seer and Revelator"! Prayer of Salvation: Heavenly Father, I thank you for your Holy Word, the Bible, which reveals the plan of salvation which is so simple. I repent for thinking that a church could save me when you only ask me to come to you in simple faith. Lord Jesus, I have heard your knock at the door of my heart. I open that door and ask you to come in. I believe that you lived a sinless life, took my sins upon you when you died on the cross, and are now at the right hand of the Father, praying for me. I renounce Mormonism and everything associated it. I ask for release from all the spirits of deception I have allowed in my life by doubting your holy Word, the Bible, and following the teachings of men. Cleanse me with your blood which was shed on the cross. I believe. I receive you now as my Lord and Savior. I will seek out a church which teaches the Bible as the guide for my life. I will be re-baptized as a testimony of my conversion. I give you my life. Do with me what you will. I promise never leave you, with the help of the Holy Spirit. Thank you, Jesus! Amen! If you prayed this prayer sincerely, please contact Dr. Dean at the email address below and let him know about it. He will see that you receive the guidance necessary to keep you in the ways of the Lord. Of course, your name and email address will be kept confidential.
